Agrarian University of Havana
Who are we?
The Agrarian University of Havana “Fructuoso Rodríguez Pérez” (UNAH) was founded on September 7, 1976. At that time, it was known as the “Higher Institute of Agricultural Sciences of Havana” (ISCAH). It is located at kilometer 23.5 on the National Highway and 4 kilometers from the municipality of San José de las Lajas, Mayabeque Province.
It is the oldest agricultural university in Cuban history, and its roots lie in the University of Havana, specifically in the School of Agricultural Sciences at Quinta de los Molinos, which housed the Schools of Agronomy and Veterinary Medicine. Following the principle of work-study, in 1972 both faculties were moved to the Guayabal Farm, now a teaching unit, due to the need to broaden students’ horizons and provide them with direct contact with the environment.
